We are seeking an outgoing and dedicated Counselor, Vocational Services to join our team. This is a professional rehabilitation position and is directly responsible to the Director of Vocational Services. The Counselor is responsible for an assigned caseload including all aspects of service delivery to participants and their families.

Responsibilities:

· Provides individual counseling with a goal of helping participants relate to their aptitudes, skills, interests and limitations within a framework of a realistic vocational objective. Individuals could be in school, vocational programming, day habilitation or mental health programming. Counselors are required to become proficient in written goal plan development.

· Prepares, updates and maintains on-going case records of active participants.

· Prepares reports on participants to appropriate agencies and facilitates participants’ receiving all appropriate services necessary in the community.

· Prepares statistical data on the status of each participant to be presented to the Director of Vocational Services as needed.

· Participate in regular staff meetings.

· Liaises with the referral agencies and other sponsoring agencies.

· Attends periodic training programs, staff meetings and professional conferences required by the Director of Vocational Services and/or the VP of Programs & Services, and required by Licensing.

· Facilitates groups with a focus on psycho-social or vocational goals as requested and keeps group notes required.

· Maintains contact with supervised living situations, caregivers and families to ensure continuity of services being offered.

· Maintains involvement with vocational services and employment service activities in order to assist participants in reaching individual vocational objectives.

· Presents recommendations and innovative ideas concerning the improvement of the overall functioning of the program to the Director of Vocational Services

· Facilitates group sessions on a variety of topics and activities to teach participants skills that help them in their daily lives.

· Conducts annual participant assessments, including treatment planning, comprehensive assessment updates, recovery assessments and risk assessments.

· Screens and evaluates all pertinent records and reports on new participants regarding psychological, social and vocational information.

· Orients new participants to the program in general and specifically to what is to take place in the specific vocational program.

· Provides vocational testing, scoring and reporting of results to appropriate individuals.

· Presents cases at staff meeting to include recommendations.

· Engage in job sampling, job placement, job coaching and follow along if necessary and appropriate.

· Interpret and analyze physical and/or mental status, social and economic situation, attitudes and aptitudes, work experiences, functional limitations, educational background, and personality traits to determine type and extent of disability and rehabilitation options.

· Interpret information from interviews, questionnaires, work and social histories, psychological tests and other diagnostic techniques in vocational assessment and the planning of rehabilitation services.

· Evaluate and select job sites and/or simulated work environments to provide an individualized program of vocational and work adjustment services for participants.

· Prepare evaluation reports which emphasize a participant’s strengths and needs and which contain specific measurable objectives, and programs of services necessary for achieving objectives, to the appropriate sponsoring agency.

· This position supports a caseload of individuals in Extended Employment.

Requirements:

· BA in Psychology, Sociology, Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field required, MA preferred.

· Valid NJ Driver’s License.

· Knowledge and experience working with people with developmental disabilities

· Competency with MS Office and EHR/Databases

Compensation:

$22.52 - $29.28 per hour
