Asst. Director of Mental Health Clinical Services

Full Job Description

Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in a mental health, rehabilitation, psychology, sociology or another human services field; or

  • A bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years experience in providing mental health services; and/or

  • A relevant professional credential, such as: LCSW, LPC, LAC, LRC, LCADC, licensed psychologist, or master of science in nursing.

The Asst. Director of Mental Health Clinical Services shall have primary responsibility for supervision of direct care staff and perform caseload management, which includes intensive counseling, documentation and plan writing with an overall goal of helping participants reach their individual potential vocationally and personally.

Other duties include:

  • Provide intensive counseling support to participants in potential crisis as needed.

  • Develop, lead and facilitate group sessions on a variety of topics and activities to teach participants skills that help them in their daily lives.

  • Conduct annual participant assessments, including treatment planning, comprehensive assessments and updates, recovery assessments and risk assessments.

  • Prepare and maintain an on-going case record of assigned participants’ status while in the program.

  • Prepare reports on participants to appropriate agencies and facilitate participants’ receiving all appropriate services necessary in the community.

  • Attend and contribute to staff and psychiatric consultations with regards to individual participants and overall program objectives.

  • Participate with the Director of Mental Health Services in marketing the Center’s programs to individuals and to other providers.

  • Attend periodic training programs, staff meetings and professional conferences required by the Director of Mental Health Services and required by Licensing.

  • Present innovative ideas concerning the improvement of the Center’s service delivery areas to the Director and President/CEO.

  • Maintain group notes and organizes and keep notes for auditors etc.

  • Maintain close working relationship with consulting psychiatrists, nurses, directors, administrative and workshop staff in order to ensure quality services for participants.

  • Maintain involvement with vocational services and employment service activities in order to assist participants in reaching individual vocational objectives.

  • Supervise entry-level counselor and/or rehabilitation aides specifically with documentation and/or counseling issues related to all participants in the various programs at the Center.

  • Assist the Director of Mental Health Services in any assigned area of service delivery.

  • Manage program with regarding to staffing and participant issues in absence of Director.

  • Cover other counselors’ caseloads when they are not at program.
