Registered Nurse PER DIEM

 

For over 60 years, Inroads to Opportunities, a non-profit agency located in Roselle, New Jersey has been dedicated to enriching the lives each year of over 400 individuals with disabilities residing in the greater Union County area. Currently, Inroads has an opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse Per Diem 1 day a week. Inroads offers competitive compensation and a vibrant work environment.

Qualified Candidates must be a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in good standing with 1-2 years of experience related to the duties and responsibility of the described position preferably in an adult psychiatric environment. Must provide evidence of insurance.

The PER DIEM Nurse is responsible for the provision of health services to the participants. He/she acts in cooperation with the Medical Director (Psychiatrist).

1. Promote optimum health of participants through education, consultation and counseling. Staff involvement is only for emergency events regarding worker’s compensation matters.

2. Knowledge of community resources and maintain active communication with community agencies to ensure the continuity of care for participants.

3. Facilitate the administration of prescribed medication and in many cases distribute daily medication to individuals in the program.

4. Administer intra-muscular injections when nurse-counselor is unavailable as necessary and as prescribed.

5. Keep abreast of all related information regarding psychotropic medications and possible side effects and drug interactions.

6. Help facilitate participants having regular blood levels completed which are ordered by the facility psychiatrist.

7. Act as medical liaison when directed by nurse-counselor with the community and communicate information to rehabilitation staff in regards to specific medical issues effecting participants at the Center.

8. Attend rehabilitation staff meetings when scheduled.

9. Participate in staff education programs and health safety issues.

10. Give medically directed treatment to individuals injured during the Center’s hours of operation on the premises.

11. Review records of all potential participants to screen for areas of concern, potential health problems in regards to work and make recommendations for follow-up care.

12. Arrange for or complete preventative health practices with participants to assist in the maintenance of good health, i.e.; yearly weights/blood pressures, bringing in dental hygienist, review menus and dietary restrictions,

requests for updated medical examinations every 3 years.

13. Document all medication distributed and administered, as well as notes on participant’s issues and concerns.

14. Complete case management for a small group of extended employees who have complicated medical conditions.
